How to be ok
Consider picking up meds to help with:
- car sickness on the winding mountain roads
- altitude sickness (Twin Peaks Altitude: 5k feet, 1.5k meters). Appaz drinking ginger the week before you ascend helps?
- Allergies (pollen season)
- Jetlag— melatonin (sleep hormone) can be bought over counter in US -helps you fall asleep at the right time / shift your circadian rhythm
Wedding venue:
- Venue location and website.
- Bring flat shoes as bits are muddy
- Beware/hydrate: alcohol has a greater effect at mountain elevation
- Pack layers- it gets cold when the sun goes down (maybe even bring a hot water bottle)
- If you plan to drink and are not staying within walking distance, the venue recommends arranging a taxi ahead of time. There are a few options, but it being a small town, simply calling when you’re ready may not be 100% reliable
- This is the last coffee stop before heading up the mountain from west
If you’re travelling from UK, a reminder to:
Sort out your ESTA (tourist visa waiver) here at least a few weeks in advance of your flight – without an ESTA you can’t enter the US
Sort out your travel insurance, the US does not have an NHS (to their great shame). Sam used Virgin, but there are many affordable options out there.
